Ghana is known for its picturesque landscapes and beaches. One of the best beaches (according to me) in Ghana that is worth a visit, is the Tills beach. The beach is pretty clean and is well maintained. Those interested in playing Bach volleyball, would find this, a good place .
The beach is tucked away in the small hillocks situated at the outskirts of Accra, across the coast and is away from the hustle and bustle of the town. All you would hear is the sound of the waves, for miles together.
The Tills beach resort offers budgetary rooms that are well maintained and the in house restaurant, that offers a good variety of food.
As the beach is not rocky,Swimming is possbile. However precaution needs to be taken, as the waters are bit deep and the currents are strong.
For the kids, there is a play area that is a bit above the shore & is safe. Also, there is a small zoo with monkeys & other birds, that the tiny tots would love to see.
Location:
It is a 1 hour drive from the main city of Accra, on the way to Takoradi, and the entire drive is approximately 35 kms. On the highway after a village called Budumburam, one needs to take a left. There are clear signboards marked on the road. Though the entire stretch of drive is good upto Budumburam, the rest is a full of potholes. One needs to be careful while driving. Please watch out for people who repair the potholes on the approach road from Budumburam, who would stop your vehicles. You may need to pay them small amounts, for the maintenance of roads. So it is advisable, that you always have some change (coins) on you.
There are speed restrictions (maximum speed) on the highway, mainly while approaching the villages enroute. It is advisable to honour those speed limits. These are clearly marked at the begining of each village. Also, the mobile network may not work at times in this region. Please make sure to carry your first aid kit, if you are a patient of Isnophilia or Asthma.
